At
the Fire House of Delegates meeting held October 21, 2006,
at Annual Conference, much time was devoted to discussing
the major fires that had occurred throughout the state this
past year which caused many concerns and questions to
surface related to response by outside departments to these
events. As a result, the attending membership at the second
Annual Conference General Assembly approved a motion “to
support a Mutual Aid calling tree through development of a
sub-committee or task force which would work with the
Nebraska Forest Service”.
To
support this objective, Mr. Teixeira, newly elected NSVFA 2nd
Vice President and also Fire Resource Manager for the
Nebraska Forest Service, further explains the need in the
attached document
and outlines a process to fulfill the requirements of
creating a Mutual Aid Calling Tree. The NSVFA supports Mr.
Teixeira’s proposal and asks all mutual aid organizations to
respond as quickly as possible to Mr. Teixeira using the
response form at the bottom of page one in the attached
document, so that the Yellow Book can be updated with a
compiled list of Mutual Aid Dispatch Center “Non-Emergency
Phone Numbers” as soon as possible. The attached Mutual Aid
Calling Tree document also contains information from the
Nebraska Revised Statutes, Chapter 81 Statutory language
regarding the provision of assistance for disaster or
emergency, Section 81-829.65.
